It’s a Tradition that started over 50 years ago at Chateau Speedway in Lansing, Fireworks on the Fourth of July Weekend.   Despite the threatening weather a solid filled of cars pulled in for what was to be the ninth night of racing action during the 63rd anniversary Season at Chateau Speedway.  The pre race ceremonies started with a Salute to America, the Flag and the Brave Men and Women who have fought for her over the years and concluded about ten minutes later as rain started as the first heat race of the night was set to pull onto the track.  Officials sent the packing trucks onto the track to try and save the track but mother nature kept dumping the rain until there was no saving the night.    It was also a Food Shelf Collection night as fans could save on there gate admission by bringing two non perishable food items for the local Food Shelf.  The Track has put a lot of effort into coming up with community minded events and this one goes hand in hand with the Toys For Tots Collection that will take place at The Tracks awards banquet in December.   This weeks featured sponsors were to be Kevin Stoa Engineering of Albert Lea and Joe Vogt Custom Pumping of Rose Creek.  The Track did have a back up plan in place for the fireworks show.  The display will be shelved for a month and a half until August 16th when the Mastel Brothers Touring Non Wing Sprints will be part of that nights action.

Drivers and Fans are remined to save there ticket stubs and wrist bands for the night and they will be honored next Friday Night.   The nights racing was to be the first of a very busy month of July for the Chateau Speedway Crew.  Along with the regular Friday Night programs the Track is heading up the Dodge County Fair Racing Program this month.  The Dodge County Fair Race In Kasson will be on Thursday Night July 18th at 7:00.  The Nights action will Feature a $1500 to win A Mod Class and two $400 to win B Mod Classes as well as a $250 to win Street Stock Class and a $125 to win Hornet Class.  The Night will not be a sanctioned race and no points will be awarded but cars will be teched to be legal in there respective classes.  The A Mods will have to be legal in either WISSOTA, USRA  or IMCA, while the two B Mod Classes will be divided between WISSOTA Midwest Mod rules in one class and the USRA B Mods and IMCA Sport Mods combined in the other.  Street Stocks and Hornets will follow the WISSOTA Rules packages with the Hornets being allowed the Chateau Speedway Phase In Rules variances.  Anyone with questions on rules for the Special event can contact Chateau Speedway thru contact information on the webpage or on face book.  Meanwhile racing action resumes next Friday Night in Lansing with the regular six classes being joined by the KEVKO Outlaw Mini Mods.  Action next week is slated to get underway again at 7:15 with the first green flag of the night.
